Harcourts chief executive Chris Kennedy is upset the real estate industry has been mocked for its cautious approach to health and safety.
He said his company was treading carefully because new laws on health and safety were untested, and serious breaches could carry penalties of five years in prison and a fine of up to $600,000.
“Like many other businesses and industries, real estate professionals have had to make changes to the way we conduct business.
“For us, a workplace is any place in which we conduct business – our offices, our cars, managed properties and open homes.”
